Shelter Dog – Gomez
Some breeds always look sad. So, with Gomez, a Newfoundland mix, it’s hard to know whether his sad expression comes from understanding his unfair situation. After all, Gomez, like so many bigger dogs, is a sweet, perpetually grateful gentleman. He sees the world as the half-full glass. He doesn’t resent being dumped. He’s grateful someone saved him.
Still, it’s hard for the neutered, well-mannered, gray-muzzled fellow to adjust to a small kennel, with a concrete floor. He’s a gentleman of a certain age. Gomez deserves a corner in a real home, with a soft blanket. The calm, gentle fellow has earned that.
Of course, Gomez never complains. He wags his tail, with gratitude and affection, when someone approaches. It’s people who understand he deserves better.
