Shelter Pup – Zyra
After Zyra was spayed, someone took her home to recover. That’s when the shelter staff found out this 10-month-old, medium-sized dog is amazing. Zyra, who looks, behaves and learns like a Border Collie/ German Shepherd, sparkles with intelligence, alertness and energy. And Zyra wants to please and learn new tasks.
Although she’s still a pup, Zyra is crate trained. This pup is also adept at playing with other dogs and leash walking. She’s even fine with cats. Most of all, Zyra loves every human she meets.
There are probably other great things about Zyra, things someone can discover. For instance, Zyra surprised her foster mom by playing an Olympic-level game of fetch. Unprompted, Zyra returns the ball and politely drops it at her friend’s feet.

When a law enforcement officer asks for help from the shelter staff, it can be very serious. Situations don’t get much more serious than Marley’s was. Read Marley’s story and learn more about how you can help this sweet dog’s recovery efforts.
Dramatic cases of animal injury and recovery are common at the Grant County Friends of the Animal Shelter and Castle is no exception. We encourage you to read Castle’s story and learn more about how you can help this resilient cat’s recovery efforts.
