Shelter Kitten – Daphne
Daphne is a special kitten. However, in the shelter, it’s hard to feel special. It’s even harder for nine-month-old Daphne to feel like a kitten. The itty-bitty kittens running around make people forget that Daphne’s a kitten, too. They don’t notice how vulnerable she is, just like they don’t notice that she’s rare.
Most yellow cats, 75%, are male. A little gold and white girl is special. Once, in a disappeared time and place, Daphne felt special. However, Daphne has gotten used to being overlooked, as people hurry to the palm-sized kittens. The 14-carat, spayed girl stays aloof now. Daphne seldom tries to attract anyone’s attention.
But Daphne isn’t grown up. She still deserves to be treated and appreciated like the kitten she is.
