Itty-bitty Gotham’s mamma’s people weren’t interested in spaying or vaccinating her. After all, they didn’t plan to keep her in their family, even though Mamma believed that she had a lifelong home. After all, the people cuddled her, at least at first. But that was just entertainment for the people.

When they moved, those people took the big-screen television for entertainment but not Gotham’s mamma or him. Hungry, Mamma wandered across a field, with Gotham and his littermates toddling behind. Maybe Mamma hoped to catch a field mouse. She didn’t, but she came to a house where someone was much kinder.

Gotham learned to adore this new person who fed and held him but couldn’t keep him. Now Gotham wants to adore someone else forever.
